MBA Food&Agribusiness student Mr. Nikolas Agalopoulos, as a member of the team “ΕλληνFood,” received the first prize at the 1st Business Idea Competition of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), organized by the Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Technology Transfer Office (InnovInAgri) on 22 May 2018 at the Athens Stock Exchange. Mr. Agalopoulos, together with Ms. Lydia Valasi, PhD Candidate at AUA, and Mr. Marinos Xagoraris, postgraduate student of the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, developed their business plan for the utilization of by-products from industries and second-grade fruits from Greek soil, aiming at producing biofunctional flours.
In the same competition, MBA Food&Agribusiness students D. Kavouras, E. Lekka, E. Dourlari, and D. Papadakos took third place with the team “OHLIVE” for their business plan to create herbal infusions in capsules compatible with Nespresso machines, combining organic Greek herbs. This team also won second prize in the category of innovative business ideas at the 1st Panhellenic Competition for Innovative Business Ideas and Startups, organized by Aroma Innovation Hub on Friday, 1 June 2018 at the Achaia Chamber of Commerce.
